2018 A Good Year So Far

The other day was my 54th birthday and a friend wrote on my Facebook, hope you have a good year.

We are only into month 3 and it has been a very good year. We went on a Western Caribbean 7 day cruise which was absolutely superb in every aspect. When you cruise the only real decisions one has to make is whether to have 2 entrees or 2 appetizers for dinner. It is very stress free and totally relaxing way to spend a week.

We traveled on Carnival and I especially enjoyed the way they celebrated the military, They invited each service up on stage and the people had an opportunity to share there experience and receive the crowds applause. Touching gesture and tribute to the great men and women who serve our countries.

The food and customer service was top notch. we had an inside cabin on a lower deck, who cared, your only in your room to sleep. We will definitely cruise again.

Valentines day brought the best present our grandson and my step daughter came for a visit. Our grandson is still with us for another 10 days and he is the sweetest most beautiful boy in the world. Yes I am a little biased. I never had the pleasure of having children on my own. I have sure embraced being a grandfather. Countless special moments occur every day. This morning no exception, I woke up about 3 and went to sleep on the chair. About 5 this little hand taps my arm and wants to come and sleep on the chair with me.

One of his favorite shows is Paw Patrol, he hears the music and comes running to watch. The show is simplistic and highly educational. I marvel at him every day watching him grow and learn about life in his own way. He has these blocks to play with and has become quite the builder. He has provided a calming influence for me. A  great stress and mental health reliever. He greets you with a big hug and whatever negative thoughts or bad day gets erased away very quickly.

Oliver will be 2 years old on March 13/18. Where does the time go? We wish he could stay at this great age forever, however.

Robert Fulghum said it best with his book "All I Ever Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten". I can see how true this is by watching and learning from Oliver.

I love him very much and know how much joy and love he gives me every day. I am blessed and see the great year continuing.
