I blogged last time about the great 2018 so far. Well it continues in many different forms.
It started early on January 1. My sweetie loves to play poker and she is very good. She was going to play in a tournament at the local casino. I went along and I was going to encourage her and offer support at the same time reading and doing my crosswords. She asked if I wanted to play. I said sure it's only 40$. Well 3 hours later I am walking out 400$ richer and the winner of the tournament. Since the start of the year, I have won just under 3000$ in poker. All of the money has gone to pay debt.
Also in January my cheque for speaking at schools in the fall came in. I had totally forgot about this. We went on this spectacular cruise experience to the Western Caribbean. Getting there we volunteered our seats and got handsomely compensated for it and then had the opportunity to fly on the largest plane in United's fleet.
I have cruised 4x times and this was the most relaxing, stress free cruise I have been on. Thank you Carnival. Maybe it was because I was with the person I love. Everyone was happy and the staff were exceptional.
Our grandson has been with us for a month and he is a bundle of joy. So easy going and fiercely independent. Full of love and acceptance. Today is his second birthday. I am positive he has grown since coming last month. We took him to a reception on the weekend. He rocked his outfit with hat suspenders, leather jacket. It was hard to tell if he was auditioning for a Broadway musical, or Hollywood film or just being the lovely Oliver. No surprise he was the hit of the party.
The reception was for the introduction of the inaugural class of the Manitoba Soccer Hall of Fame. I was representing my father, one if the pioneers of soccer in Canada ad Manitoba and women's soccer worldwide. I am positive he was smiling down prouder than punch.
March witnessed my 54th birthday. I have never felt younger or healthier, mentally and physically in my life. I spoke to a major company sharing my mental health story and journey. Each time I share my story, I gain greater insight and awareness into my story and journey and conversely greater appreciation for other people's story and journey.
The message of the secret, the law of attraction is so powerful. What you put out, you will gain back. Karma, Kizmet whatever you call it does work. It needs to be watered and nurtured every day and can be. Keep at it and keep moving forward.

2018 A Good Year So Far
The other day was my 54th birthday and a friend wrote on my Facebook, hope you have a good year.
We are only into month 3 and it has been a very good year. We went on a Western Caribbean 7 day cruise which was absolutely superb in every aspect. When you cruise the only real decisions one has to make is whether to have 2 entrees or 2 appetizers for dinner. It is very stress free and totally relaxing way to spend a week.
We traveled on Carnival and I especially enjoyed the way they celebrated the military, They invited each service up on stage and the people had an opportunity to share there experience and receive the crowds applause. Touching gesture and tribute to the great men and women who serve our countries.
The food and customer service was top notch. we had an inside cabin on a lower deck, who cared, your only in your room to sleep. We will definitely cruise again.
Valentines day brought the best present our grandson and my step daughter came for a visit. Our grandson is still with us for another 10 days and he is the sweetest most beautiful boy in the world. Yes I am a little biased. I never had the pleasure of having children on my own. I have sure embraced being a grandfather. Countless special moments occur every day. This morning no exception, I woke up about 3 and went to sleep on the chair. About 5 this little hand taps my arm and wants to come and sleep on the chair with me.
One of his favorite shows is Paw Patrol, he hears the music and comes running to watch. The show is simplistic and highly educational. I marvel at him every day watching him grow and learn about life in his own way. He has these blocks to play with and has become quite the builder. He has provided a calming influence for me. A great stress and mental health reliever. He greets you with a big hug and whatever negative thoughts or bad day gets erased away very quickly.
Oliver will be 2 years old on March 13/18. Where does the time go? We wish he could stay at this great age forever, however.
Robert Fulghum said it best with his book "All I Ever Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten". I can see how true this is by watching and learning from Oliver.
I love him very much and know how much joy and love he gives me every day. I am blessed and see the great year continuing.

Its My Birthday and I will...
I turned 54 today. I do not feel or look this age. A lady today on the elevator said you look years younger.
As I get older age becomes non relevant. For me it is all about attitude the more positive I am and feel the younger I feel. It is not about the presents, I stopped being concerned about presents for birthdays or Christmas years ago. If I get 1 person saying hi then it is a good day. It is about spending and sharing love with the people most precious and dear to me.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sharing my story to staff at a large company for their Not Me Today mental health campaign. I rocked it!!
At the end of my talk a couple of people mentioned that this campaign is long overdue at the company. Another lady wanted advise on how to handle her daughter being bullied at school.
No matter where we are in life, people are always going through and dealing with stuff, that's why everyone has a story to tell and share.
When I was diagnosed 8 years ago, I wanted to know everything about depression, signs symptoms, treatment options, medication everything. I decided to be open and honest with myself and conversely open and honest with those around me.
By doing this I exposed myself and everyone for the most part has been supportive and positive and will share with you that they have being dealing with their own issues or a family member, friend, coworker. In the 8 years there have only been 2 people who were not receptive to my openness and they are no longer part of my network (their loss not mine).
I continue to share, there is strength in numbers. I continue to listen to and support others. Life is good for this 54 yrs young man.
